Yes.  We’re asked this question often.  There are different types of “regsitered breeders” and it’s important to understand that although a breeder may claim to be “regsitered” many are not actually regulated or only undergo very weak regulation.  Bredwell Puppies is a registered Victorian Minister Approved Breeder.  This means we undergo the strictect of all regualtions and must receive a recommendation by the Cheif Veterinary Officer of Victoria before we are even considered being approved by the Victorian Minister of Agriculture.  There are very few Victorian Minister Approved Breeders since the standards and regualtions are so high.

A professional dog breeder is someone who breeds dogs as a business or as a full-time occupation and has a thorough knowledge of genetics, breeding practices, and the needs of the specific breed of dog they are working with. Professional dog breeders should also be familiar with any breed-specific health issues and should be committed to producing healthy, well-adjusted puppies. In contrast, a backyard breeder is a person who breeds dogs without any professional training or expertise, often in their own backyard. Backyard breeders may not be knowledgeable about genetics, breeding practices, or the specific needs of the breed they are working with and may not follow good breeding practices.

We’ve been breeding dogs for a long time – 30 years in fact.  We’ve learnt a lot during that time and have continually adjusted and improved our breeding program.  With detailed records and new technology like DNA testing we are able to reduce the risk of health issues in our dogs and puppies.

Our kennels have been carefully designed and built to make sure our dogs and puppies have the best life possible.  From the very beginning we wanted to make sure we raised the standard in terms of breeding and rearing dogs and puppies.  Our goal is to breed happy and healthy dogs.  Everything we do here is done to achieve this goal. 

Our dogs have access to large secure yards that include plently of toys, trees, automatic water systems, water misters for those warmer days, insulated indoor areas, all surrounded by gardens.  Our facilites include bathing and grooming areas, puppy nursery rooms with CCTV, heating and cooling.  

Having a great faciltiy is important but without a wonderful team of dedicated dog loving people is what makes our dogs and pups happiest.  We are incredibly fortunate to have a team who are as passionate about our dogs and puppies as we are and just like us, they fully understand how important our role is to makre sure each puppy is given the best start to life.
